The cost of lack of diversity in the workplace

The year 2020 sparked a moral and ethical awakening for most. Specifically, it caused the general public to consider the treatment of people of color in the U.S

Aside from the obvious issue of police brutality, racial bias is still prevalent in the workplace. According to a 2020 study done by Mercer, “ 64% of workers in entry level positions (were) white.” In executive positions, the homogeny is even more widespread.

The lack of people of color in executive positions is evidence that promotion opportunities are much more slim for non-white workers. This could lead to a lack of motivation for people of color in entry level positions.
